Built With Chocolate Milk

Disclosure: BUILT WITH CHOCOLATE MILK contacted me to write a sponsored blog post about TEAM CHOCOLATE MILK and their work with eight-time Olympic medalist Apolo Ohno. In return I was given a complimentary entry to Rock n Roll Seattle and a meet & greet with Apolo Ohno. Chocolate Milk is the Official REFUEL Beverage of Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series.

The Science Behind Chocolate Milk:

More than 20 studies support the benefits of recovering with the high-quality protein and nutrients in chocolate milk after a tough workout.

Chocolate milk is a natural source of high-quality protein to build lean muscle. It has the right mix of protein and carbs, scientifically shown to refuel exhausted muscles and help return muscles to peek potential. It provides fluids and electrolytes – like calcium, potassium and magnesium and sodium – to rehydrate and help replenish critical nutrients lost in sweat.

Team Chocolate Milk & Apolo Ohno

Apolo Ohno is an eight-time medalist for short-track speedskating and is recognized as the most decorated winter sports athlete of all time.

As part of this year’s BUILT WITH CHOCOLATE MILK campaign, they’ve launched a “Mission Apolo” series that challenges Apolo Ohno, to translate his power and speed to the sport of triathlon. With the help and training from experts on TEAM CHOCOLATE MILK, Apolo will compete in the 2014 IRONMAN World Championship Race in Kona.

Click on the picture above to see the latest Mission Apolo clip, which features Apolo, Jen Ator, Women’s Health Magazine fitness director and 6X IRONMAN Champ Luke McKenzie.

Rock ‘n’ Roll Seattle

As part of Apolo’s training routine, he will be running Rock ‘n’ Roll Seattle!

During my meet and greet with Apolo, I can ask him questions about his training.

What questions would you ask Apolo Ohno about his training for 2014 IRONMAN World Championship Race in Kona with Team CHOCOLATE MILK?

Nike+ FuelBand

Recently I received a direct message from NikeTown Seattle on Twitter. They said as one of their loyal followers, they wanted to hook me up with their new Nike+ FuelBand! Awesome!

From Nike.com website:

Nike+ FuelBand tracks your activity through a sports-tested accelerometer, then translates every move into NikeFuel. Nike+ FuelBand tracks running, walking, dancing, basketball – and dozens of everyday activities. So put in on and get moving.

It is pretty easy to use. There is one button on the FuelBand and it will scroll through each of the different areas each time it is pressed – Fuel (NikeFuel points), Cals (Calories), Steps, and Time. The FuelBand easier transfers the statistics through the USB charging dock (included!) or through bluetooth to iPhone and then updates your information on the Nike site.

You set daily goals and see if you can meet or excede them! I picked it up two days ago and have been wearing it every day since! Definitely a fun and very informative gadget to wear. I never realized how many steps taken, calories burned, and miles I’ve walked each day!

Thank you Powersox!

Please note that in no way endorsed or paid for my commentary on PoweSox products.

A couple of weeks ago I mentioned on Twitter that I heard that PowerSox APF were pretty good running socks. I was contacted by PowerSox and they sent me a complimentary pair of their APF socks! Wow, very awesome of them!

Today I finally had a chance to try them out during my 8 mile run. The socks are fitted for the left and right foot. There is a L and R  to distinguish which foot they go on. The socks were a perfect fit on each foot – very snug without much leftover material. They were VERY confortable to run in. I almost forgot I was wearing them! I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a comfortable pair of running socks.

New York City Marathon 2012 – Update!

This morning I expected to see the results of the NYC Marathon 2012 lottery at 9:05PDT. It came and went. I checked their site  and the New York Road Runners live feed numerous times, still nothing! A few hours later  I see tweets saying that that NYC Marathon were processing credit cards and that was the cause for the delay. I checked my credit card site a few times. No charges! Nothing!  I stopped checking the sites for awhile.

In the afternoon, I decided to check the NYC Marathon site again. This time I was able to login to my profile. I see this..

Marathon registration status: Not accepted

Oh well! There is always 2013! 🙂

Congrats to everyone who got in!

Awesome gift!

I received the awesomest gift a few weeks ago from one of my twitter buddies!

This will definitely make my morning runs fun! Thank you again Kristie!

I’m giving away a pair of Brooks Running Shorts!

I recently ordered a pair of men’s 5″ Brooks Running shorts. However, by error they sent me a pair of women’s 5″ running shorts. I asked if I should send the shorts back, but they said I could keep them.

I’ve decided to give them away to my 500th twitter follower! Follow me @runwithwes

Please note that I’m not in any way affiliated or sponsored by Brooks Running.
