LA Marathon Training – Week #3

Training has been plagued with sore calves. I’ve been doing my best to R.I.C.E my calves often. They are slowly getting better. Over all a good week of training. I found myself doing a tiny bit more than I needed to do.

Tuesday – 3 Miles
Weather:  46 degrees
Actual Miles: 3.01
Pace: 8:27
Time: 26:22
Notes: I ran a pretty fast 5K. I try not to look at my pace while running, but do glance at my miles. Just in case I need to change my route to get (whatever number of) training miles in. Felt really good!

Wednesday – 4 Miles
Weather: 46 degrees
Actual Miles: 4.25s
Pace: 8:57
Time: 38:03
Notes: I wanted to wait for a break in the rain, but it never happened. When I started it was barely sprinkling out. During the last mile it was really coming down. Overall a great run! I had a ton of energy. The rain was invigorating!

Thursday – 3 Miles
Weather: 50 degrees
Actual Miles: 3.12
Pace: 8:49
Time: 27:25
Notes: I found a break in the rain and got my 3 miles in. I sound like a broken record with both of those statements!

Saturday – 7 Miles
Weather: 50 degrees
Actual Miles: 0.56
Pace: 8:57
Time: 04:58
Notes:  I started off my run and could feel that my calves were a bit sore. Ultimately decided that they need one more day of rest. Calves were not rested enough.

Sunday – 7 Miles
Weather: 47 degrees
Actual Miles: 7.10 miles
Pace: 9:05
Time: 1:04:53
Notes: Moved my run from Saturday to Sunday to allow my calves extra time to rest. Started out strong, left calve was sore and like a brick around 2.62 miles. I stopped and stretched for about 30 seconds. It felt great after that! Finished the 7 miles strong.

Total Week #3: 18.13 miles
Total LA Marathon Training: 46.41 miles
